Catch ChessKid And FunMasterMike At London's ChessFest On July 16

This summer, ChessKid and FunMasterMike will return to London's iconic Trafalgar Square for ChessFest, the outdoor festival dedicated to chess fans of all ages.

The free event, hosted by Chess in Schools and Communities, will take place on Sunday, July 16, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

ChessKid will have a front-row spot to meet you all at our booth, where FunMasterMike will join us, alongside other ChessKid team members. So stop by to say hello and join the fun at the ChessKid booth!

Ask us questions and solve puzzles to receive a free month of Gold ChessKid membership and other exciting prizes.

 

As a novelty this year, we are organizing a ChessKid Puzzle Championship that will be displayed on the giant screen overlooking the square. Round 1 will start at 13:00 and round 2 at 16:00. There is no difference between the two rounds and you are welcome to take part in both. This is what you need to do to take part:

• Bring your own device with ChessKid app downloaded. WiFi is not guaranteed, so make sure you have cellular service and data
• Sign out of your own ChessKid account (if you have one)
• FunMasterMike will create one-time ChessFest accounts for the participants and you will all sign in to that one to start at the same rating
• You will have a 10-minute race to see who can achieve the highest puzzle rating! 

 

We will also showcase a ChessKid Transatlantic Match featuring brilliant UK chess prodigy Bodhana Sivanandan. Watch the game live from the square as she battles against her challenger Megan Paragua from the United States.

ChessFest will once again have a living chess set with 32 professional actors taking on the role of the chess pieces. They will be doing a number of performances throughout the day, including recreations of some of the best games played by celebrity chess masters.
