The chess world's attention will soon be on Chennai, India for the 44th World Chess Olympiad. More than 1700 players from over 187 countries are expected to take part in the biggest Olympiad in chess history, starting on July 28.
World Champion Magnus Carlsen will be there, the star-studded USA team will be there, and hosts India will be there with five (!) teams.
And, yes, you guessed it from the title -- ChessKid will also be there with the five-time world champion, GM Viswanathan Anand!
In fact, ChessKid will get the ball rolling with the first big event in Chennai earlier that week. On July 27, ChessKid will be at one of the top hotels in Chennai with fun-filled chess activities planned for the entire day.
Around 50 ChessKids will be treated to a priceless once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with the Indian superstar Vishy Anand. This chess legend will be giving a free masterclass and will share his wealth of experience and pearls of wisdom with all the kids attending.

We will choose 50 kids at random!
After lunch, ChessKids will be treated to a special grandmaster lesson delivered by GM Akash Ganesan (Assistant Coach of the Indian Women's Team) for both the parents and the kids.
Please note that the masterclass, lunch, and the GM session are free, but parents will have to cover the expenses of everything else (such as the cost of getting to the event, and accommodation).
All kids who attend will also receive a ChessKid Gold membership and plenty of ChessKid goodies.
Next up, the ChessKid team will travel to Mahabalipuram to enjoy the exciting opening ceremony of the 44th Chess Olympiad.
Then, on July 29, before the first round begins, we have a unique event: Stump the GM! organised in partnership with WWF India. Stump the GM! brings you the legendary five-time world chess champion Viswanathan Anand, who is both an ambassador for ChessKid and WWF India. 29th July is when the first chess moves on boards will be made at the Olympiad but it is also the International Tiger Day. The Tiger of Madras, as Vishy is also known, is looking forward to celebrating the first round of the Olympiad and International Tiger Day with ChessKid and WWF!
GM Viswanathan Anand and GM Prithu Gupta will face off by challenging each other with chess studies and puzzles to solve.
Fans and chess lovers can enjoy this unique spectacle and ask questions, before the event ends with a photograph and autograph session with the grandmasters.
WWF India will present the audience with some more activities like Tiger Quiz, Tiger Anthem and for Vishy to take a pledge to conserve tigers.
Last up, we'll have the ChessKid and Chess.com booth set up for people to visit at the Expo Center of the Olympiad.
Feel free to drop in and check out our booth to solve some puzzles and win plenty of ChessKid goodies. See you in Chennai, ChessKids!
And yes, some guy named "FunMasterMike" will be at all of these events, too :-)
