Artyom Bogdanov Wins ChessKid Intercontinental Candidates Tournament
After an intense seven-round event in the heart of Madrid, a winning ChessKid emerged from the ChessKid Intercontinental Candidates Tournament. At the Palacio de Santoña, eight ChessKids competed in a round robin tournament, using the same boards as the adult grandmasters playing at the FIDE Candidates. The skillful participants were invited to Madrid following a series of online qualifier events in which over 200 players participated from over 52 countries.
Artyom Bogdanov from Kazakhstan, with a Standard FIDE rating of 2059, finished as the winner of our event. The young chess star played opponents from Spain, Mexico and the USA.

In his final winning game, Artyom played with the black pieces against Levi Kalani Alexander Fogo Esquivel, hailing from Mexico. While both players created a strong battery towards the end of the game, black beat white to the checkmate.
Bogdanov successfully claimed a victory during all of his games, besides a close draw in the third round. He finished the entire tournament with a strong 6.5 points, with a 0.5 point lead in front of Alex Villa Tornero.

The top three players received trophies to mark their victory, and all of the participants received certificates during the closing ceremony held inside the gilded venue.
