On March 21st, ChessKid will be holding two special tournaments called the ChessKid4Peace event to help raise money for children impacted by events in Ukraine. The event will be free of charge for all players but we will be raising donations for Tvoya Opora Foundation through our livestreams at chess.com/tv or twitch.tv/chesskid. This particular charity was personally chosen by Ukrainian GM Anna Muzychuk and supports children and families wounded or displaced by the war.
The tournament will have two sections-an early section and a late section-and will take place in the ChessKid Official Club. Each section will consist of seven rounds of chess with a time control of 5+5 (five minutes per player with a five second increment for each move). The early section will take place at 9am PT/12pm ET/5pm CET and the later section will take place at 3pm PT/6pm ET/11pm CET.
The early section will feature commentary from GM Pavel Eljanov, GM Yaroslav Zherebukh, and GM Alexander Bortnik. The later section will feature commentary from GM Daneil Naroditsky, GM Irina Krush, GM Andriy Baryshpolets, and WIM Irina Andrenko.
For all players that participate in this event, ChessKid will be giving a month of free Gold Membership. In addition, the top 10 players in each section will receive six months of free Gold Membership along with an invite to a GM-led mini camp let by the 2002 FIDE World Champion, Ukrainian GM Ruslan Ponomariov.
Don't forget, all games will be subject ChessKid's Fair Play rules. To participate in the ChessKid4Peace event, make sure you join the ChessKid Official Club. Then, head over to Fast Chess to join the tournament. You can join the Early Edition here or Later Edition here and remember you must be in the ChessKid Official Club first to be able to play.
In addition, FunMasterMike is holding a special fundraising event on Saturday, March 12th at 8am PT/11am ET/4pm UK/5pm CET. He'll be showing off some of the best games played by Ukraine's top layers. After that, the three ChessKids with the top three donations will get to play a game with him!
Donations for this event will also be contributed to the Tvoya Opora Foundation. To participate in this event, please use this registration form and indicate your donation amount on the form. Suggested minimum donation is $25. Remember, the ChessKids with the top three donations will have a chance to play against FunMasterMike during this event! For more details, check out the site here!
So make sure to join us on March 21st on chess.com/tv or twitch.tv/chesskid! If you can't make it and would like to donate, you can donate here!
One more way to support Ukrainian children is to buy a Chess NFT here.
The entire amount will be donated to the children's hospital Ohmatdyt in Kyiv, Ukraine. This charity was chosen by Ukrainian WGM Anastasiya Karlovich. The owner of each chess piece contributed to the support of children in Ukraine.
