All of the action will be at chess.com/TV or twitch.tv/chesskid or youtube.com/chesskidofficial.
This month’s challenge will have three Kahoots of 10 questions each. The topics will be “Opening Tactics,” “Mates in Two,” and “Endgame Strategy.” Don’t tell the FunMaster, but we want you to get an opening advantage. So here are three positions, one from each Kahoot that I'll show on Friday, to give you a head start!
Think about each one and decide on the best move. Don’t worry if you haven't got any ideas at first -- the Kahoot will give you four answers to choose from! And we’ll explain each question as we go, so if you get an answer wrong, you’ll definitely learn something.
Tactics in the Opening: White to move
Mate in Two: White to move
Endgame Strategy: White to move
To join the fun, you’ll need a smartphone or second browser tab (one to watch the live stream and one to play the Kahoot). Many students prefer having a smartphone so they don’t have to switch back and forth between windows (watch the show on your computer, enter your answers on the smartphone).
The Kahoot website can be a little glitchy -- I have found it’s best to have a long amount of time before your phone goes to sleep, as Kahoot sometimes freezes if the phone goes to sleep when the question is changing. That can be frustrating!
You’ll enter the game by typing the PIN number into www.kahoot.it. We’ll have the pin number onscreen on the day of the show. The fun starts at 12pm Pacific/3pm Eastern. Don't be late or you might miss the first question. I hope to see you there! (and let's all try to beat the FunMaster this time)!
