The first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. Central, 5 p.m. Mountain, 4 p.m. Pacific) is National Fast Chess Hour on ChessKid.com.
Edit: We now have another Fast Chess Hour the first Tuesday of every month: 7pm London (8pm Western Europe)!
Why not make this an official activity for your club or group? At my school, we have been planning a thematic or seasonal party around each Fast Chess Tuesday event. This past Tuesday I had more than 25 students stay for our club "Fast Chess Pizza Feast" party.
For the first part of the event, I don't allow the kids on their devices or computers (sorry FunmasterMike!). I ask them to do OTB -- "over the board" games such as blitz, slow chess, bughouse, etc.
Use your phone, tablet or computer to play on ChessKid.com
A half-hour before National Fast Chess Hour I have my students log onto ChessKid.com to do tactics and fast chess games. At 6 p.m. central we all log into "Fast Chess" and let the fun begin! We use phones, tablets and computers.
The kids have a blast!
This can become the premier monthly event for your club. With the exception of attending USCF rated tournaments, this has become the event my kids look forward to the most.
Why not consider making National Fast Chess Hour a monthly all club event for your students? Try it!
You and your children will have a blast and it will help build interest and enthusiasm for chess in your club!
